Grads And Scrubs Preseason Rankings

The Grads and Scrubs League had its draft last Friday, and now it's time to evaluate each team's chances this year. In order to form a preseason ranking, I had each team owner submit their own rankings. I then compiled the results and entered them into the table below.

In order to keep it simple, the number of votes garnered at each spot is listed in the table. Points are awarded per vote at each spot and then added together to get the total. The lowest total is the #1 ranked team. For example: Team Daugherty received four 1st place votes (4 points), four 2nd place votes (8 points), two 3rd place votes (6 points), and one 5th place vote (5). Those are then added together to get the total of 23.

The results were very interesting, and they support my pre-draft belief that the teams would be very even. As evidenced by the voting, owners had far ranging views of many teams. The biggest differences of opinion involved Mike's team. He received four votes placing him in the top four, but then also received two last place votes. Multiple other teams had a vote range spanning from top three to bottom three. It will be interesting to see which sides end up being correct.

With four teams tied for second place, it should be a fierce battle for the top three spots. Hopefully the owners will realize that in fantasy baseball, leagues are not won or lost on draft day. An active and intelligent owner can overcome almost anything by making smart trades and pickups.

We encourage you to leave your opinions of the teams in the comment sections.

  1. My commentary on the poll:
    1. Daugherty - Wigginton at Coors puts big D on the top of the rankings. Noone ever wins when they start ranked #1 preseason anwyays.
    2. Shaughnessy - This team is young and black in the OF and full of proven hitters in the INF... but can't put myself first. JJ Hardy, comeback player of the year.
    3. Bentley - Carlos Quentin will be AL comeback player of the year. This team is stacked. Only thing they wont do is run.
    4. Di-Mauro - Bunch of HR's. Needs Weiters to return to Ga Tech form.
    5. Ronnie - OF's a bit weak, but Tulo/Pujols/Felix is solid trio.
    6. Guyer - Crawford will need to be MVP to carry this team.
    7. Cervero - Bench is super weak, highlighted by Gordon Beckham.
    8. Bedrock - is this the year that Bedrock leaves the basement?? Unlikely. Emaus for MVP.
    9. Beaulier - Will win the SB category. But thats about it.
10.Koo-Jo - Hes got no bench. Does he know every MLB team doesnt play everyday?
    11. Winker - Bunch of has-beens. Can Winker take his own stats and count them towards his team?
    12. Big Mike - Did mike not select keepers this year? Uggla is a pimp.

  2. Bill. wtf?
You were top my preseason ranks.
    No love?
Just because I came off the Appalachian Trail last year in last place then picked myself off and finished strong does not give you any room for hate.

And Doe. Your links are off.

  3. How did JohnGay's team get picked for best roster? This league must be watered down like the Rookery's Jack and Cokes.

  4. Sounds like you've had too many Jack and Cokes yourself
